As of the 16th of December 2025 update, accounts need to meet the following criteria to unlock access to the Marketplace, Trade Post and Club Chests.
- Reaching Mastery Level 20
- Purchasing a real-money item worth $5 USD* or more from the in-game store.
*Prices may vary in other currencies – Exchange rates are not taken into account!
Important: Players who played Trove at any point between 2021 and the 16th of December 2025 do not need to make a purchase to unlock the marketplace.
(Switch players are not affected by the update and only need to reach mastery level 20.)

A purchase is needed if you receive the following message:
This feature can be accessed after a purchasing a product worth 5 USD or more from the store.
Any other error message would indicate a different issue.

Is it a one-time purchase or will I need to make repeated purchases to keep my access to the marketplace?
It is a one-time purchase.
My account has been blocked from trading because of a sanction. Can I be unbanned by spending $5 USD?
No. Send your appeal to Customer Support by creating a ticket.
Other Errors
Even if your account has met the criteria to access the marketplace, you may still encounter errors. No purchase is required to resolve these errors.
“The Marketplace is currently unavailable”.
The marketplace might be undergoing maintenance.
We recommend checking Discord announcements to stay informed.
[PC] “Sorry, but you cannot list that item for that currency”
If you are using mods, deactivate them and try again.
If the issue persists, contact customer support.
[Console] I am unable to place an item for sell on the marketplace, but I do not receive any error messages.
1. Open your personal chest and make sure there is room to put an item in it.
2. Switch to your Crafting inventory tab.
3. Scroll down to the item that is stuck and try to move it to your personal chest (At this point it is probably showing the tooltip for a different item).
4. Move up and down with the d-pad on the item in question and try to move it again.
If this doesn’t help, move all your items from your inventory into your personal chest and then back again into your inventory.
